The Cardinals continue to sleepwalk to the finish of the 2004 regular season. The N.L. Central champs lost their fourth straight game on Thursday, falling to the Brewers 7-6. Game one playoff starter Matt Morris struggled again, giving up six runs in four innings, including four runs in the first. Keith Ginter’s two-run shot in the first gave the Brewers a 4-0 lead. Scott Podsednik hit a two-run homer in the fourth, putting Milwaukee on top 6-0. The Cardinals rallied for three runs in the ninth inning, but failed to push the tying run across home plate. Mike Matheny drove in three runs for St. Louis. That gives him a career-high 49 RBI on the season.
