The Cardinals’ winning streak was stopped at five games on Monday after losing to the Astros 10-3. Starter Woody Williams was shelled for six runs in the second inning and dropped to 11-8 on the season. The Cardinals certainly had their chances to score, but could only get three runs of their 12 hits on Monday. But the loss could have been much worse for St. Louis when starting second baseman and lead off hitter Tony Womack was hit on the hand with a pitch in the seventh inning. Womack had to leave the game for X-rays, but they came back negative. He’ll be sore, but OK.
