One of the NFL’s most dangerous weapons may available for the Chiefs on Sunday as they host the Houston Texans. Running back Priest Holmes may miss the game with what head coach Dick Vermeil described as a sore ankle. Holmes got hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 28-17 loss to the Panthers. “It’s nothing serious but it may cost him to miss some work during the week and hopefully not the ball game,” Vermeil said at yesterday’s press conference at Arrowhead. But on Sunday Vermeil indicated that Holmes was OK, but didn’t really give a reason as to why his star running back was left out of the game with his team down by 11. On Monday, Vermeil didn’t offer much more clarification, saying, “It was the kind of stuff that Derrick Blaylock can do and do well.” He added, “It had nothing to do with his injury because I walked right up to him and asked him and that’s the only thing I can tell you is the truth. So that’s why he wasn’t in the game. The situation of the game like that, down 11, we just left him out of there.”
