Last Thursday, the Royals scored 26 runs in the first game of a double header against the Tigers, then got shut out in the night cap. A similar situation popped up for the Royals last night as they followed up a 17-run performance on Monday by getting shut out 4-0 by the Yankees Tuesday. Zack Greinke got the start for Kansas City and allowed just two runs off three hits over six innings, but Yankees’ starter Mike Mussina was better. He gave up three hits and no runs over eight innings to get his 11th win. Greinke’s only lapse came in the fifth inning when he walked two batters and gave up a two-run double to Derek Jeter. Alex Rodriguez and Gary Sheffield drove in runs in the eighth inning. All four of New York’s runs came with two outs.
