Democrat John Kerry criticized President Bush for failing to extend the assault weapon ban during a campaign stop in St. Louis. Kerry told the crowd he’s a hunter and fisherman and will protect Second Amendment rights if elected president, but insisted that the ban can be reinstated without tampering with constitutional rights. Kerry said there’s not a gun owner in America that can claimed “They tried to take my guns away”. He accused Bush of caving to the National Rifle Association.Kerry appeared in St. Louis to speak to senior citizens about health care. He said the Medicare prescription drug plan left too big a hole in the coverage and doesn’t allow government to negotiate for cheaper prices.
