Denny Bautista made his first major league start on Monday. He also recorded his first loss as a starter as the Royals dropped a 7-3 afternoon game. Bautista was put into an early hole as the Tigers rallied for three runs in the first inning. The score stayed 3-0 until Joe Randa put Kansas City on the board with an RBI single. Matt Stairs drove in Randa with a double to get the Royals within one run. Craig Monroe gave the Tigers a little cushion with a solo home run in the sixth and Omar Infante gave them even more with a three-run homer in the eighth inning off D.J. Carrasco to put it away. Bautista was charged with four runs off eight hits and two walks in six innings of work.
