The Missouri Republican Party will pay a $128,000 fine to the Federal Election Commission to settle a dispute going back to the 2000 election. At issue is the state GOP’s handling of almost $8.9-Million. FEC documents say the state party failed to properly report financial activity and violated federal law governing how money should be spent on get-out-the-vote drives. A party spokesman says that while the Republicans reported $6.1-Million in spending to the State Ethics Commission, it failed to detail the spending to the FEC.
