This is the last long weekend of summer and the 85 officers of the State Water Patrol are bracing for huge crowds on Missouri lakes and rivers. State Water Patrol Corporal Nick Humphrey says the crush of tourists will begin Friday afternoon. Common sense goes a long way in making this a fun and not a tragic weekend. Humphrey says everyone needs to exercise patience and be aware of the other boats. He wants everyone to wear a life jacket and he doesn’t want the captain of the boat drinking. Humphrey says inattention and drinking lead to most of the accidents on the water. Humphrey says the busy days will be Saturday and Sunday with Friday and Monday being travel days.
