Constitution Officially Defines Marriage

The Missouri Constitution officially recognizes marriageas being between one man and one woman starting today. The change does notrequire any kind of signature ceremony or other formality to becomeofficial. Amendments are enacted 30 days after their approval. More than70% of Missouri voters approved the amendment defining who can beconsidered married in the state. It places in the constitution state law that bans same-sex marriage. About a dozen other states are preparing tovote on similar constitutional amendments.
