The Royals ended their eight-game road trip with a four game losing streak to the Mariners, losing 5-4 on Sunday. The loss had a familiar ring to it—in each of the defeats, the Royals have gotten leads, only to blow them. On Sunday they lead 3-1 thanks to home runs from Desi Relaford in the third inning, John Buck in the fourth and Joe Randa in the fifth. In the sixth inning Seattle tied the game with two unearned runs set up by an error from Angel Berroa. With one out and Ichiro Suzuki on first, Brett Boone grounded to Berroa, whose throw to first base ended up in the stands. Raul Ibanez and Bucky Jacobson drove in runs later in the inning to tie it up. Relaford scored on a bases-loaded double play in the seventh to give Kansas City the lead back, but Boone and Ibanez hit RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-4. The Royals were 1-7 on their eight-game road trip.
