The Republican National Convention is underway in New York to cover the Missouri delegation. On the even of the gathering – a huge demonstration. A large anti-Bush protest through the streets of Manhattan might have some Republicans thinking it was a mistake to hold the party’s convention in New York City – a place some call a liberal bastion. But Ann Wagner, who chairs the State Republican Party and co-chairs the Republican National Committee in Washington, says New York is the right place at the right time. And, as for the protesters, she says they’re just John Kerry supporters. On the topic of safety, Wagner says New York is the safest place in the world this week, and she has complete faith in the NYPD to keep the city secure. Missouri delegates will be in the front row when President Bush gives his acceptance speech on Thursday … a clear sign of the importance the GOP attaches to Missouri.
