The man who will lead the Missouri Department of Transportation starting next month, Pete Rahn, gets words of praise from a man who worked shoulder-to-shoulder with him in New Mexico’s transportation department. Charlie Trujillo is the former Deputy Secretary of Transportation and Chief Engineer for New Mexico. Trujillo says Rahn is a fantastic leader ready to make changes necessary to get things done, as demonstrated in how Rahn transformed New Mexico’s highway department. Trujillo says Rahn changed a piece-meal approach and transformed the New Mexico transportation department into a more business-like approach. Trujillo says they went from having one of the worst road systems in the country to being recognized for the vast improvements at the national, and maybe even more importantly, at the local level in New Mexico. Trujillo thinks Rahn will be able to do the same in Missouri.
