The Cardinals needed a little help from Reds’ reliever Joe Valentine to pull off a 6-5 win in Cincinnati Wednesday night. With two outs, the bases loaded and Albert Pujols at the plate, Valentine unleashed a wild pitch, which allowed pinch runner Reggie Sanders to score from third base. Pujols was 3-for-5 with two RBI’s and he hit his 39th home run of the season. Edgar Renteria also drove in two. Julian Tavarez was the winner in relief, while Jason Isringhausen earned his 38th save.
