An Amtrak conductor who was suspended after making a commentabout Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry says he will resign. Leslie Farr isa Republican who is challenging Democratic Congressman William Lacy Clay ofSt. Louis. He is also a delegate to the Republican National Convention nextweek. He was a conductor on an Amtrak train delayed by Kerry’s campaigntrain on August 5th. He used the public address system to tell passengersthat they were delayed while waiting for Kerry’s train and that they should remember that come November. A company hearing was scheduled for this week, but Farrsays he will resign so he can focus on his political campaign.
