At this point of the season, the Royals are looking for bright spots. Yesterday’s 7-5 loss dropped them to 44-79 and 25 games out of first place. But if one player turned heads in last night’s loss, it was designated hitter Calvin Pickering, who gave the Royals a 3-0 lead in the first with a bases-loaded triple. In three games since being called up from Class-AAA Omaha, Pickering has three homers and 11 RBI’s. The Royals led 5-4 in the fifth, when Bengie Molina scored on a wild pitch from Denys Reyes. Anaheim took the lead when David Eckstein grounded out and Adam Kennedy scored, giving the Angels the lead. Reyes was stuck with the loss.
