Calvin Pickering knows how to make an entrance. Pickering, who hit 35 home runs in Class-AAA Omaha, made his season debut with two home runs and six RBI’s to led the Royals over the Rangers 10-2. He hit a grand slam in the third inning and a two-run shot in the fifth. He hadn’t homered since he was with Boston in 2002. Zack Greinke gave up six hit and no walks, but didn’t give up any runs in six innings of work to improve to 6-9 on the season. Pickering’s call-up was the result of Ken Harvey being put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his lower rib cage. The win snapped a two-game skid and prevented the Rangers from sweeping the series.
