It appears the 2004 Olympic career of Blue Springs gymnast Courtney McCool is over. She’s been told she will not compete in any of the four events that make up the team competition tonight. She had gone to Athens with hopes for a medal in the all-around individual competition, but failed on Saturday to qualify for any of the four individual event finals, or for the all-around finals. She will be an alternate in the uneven bars competition, which means she will compete only if a teammate is hurt. Kansas City teammate Terin Humphrey, however, will take part in two of the team competition events; the balance beam and the uneven bars. She’ll compete in those two events in the individual finals later.
