McCaskill Speaks Out Against SMS Presidential Package

August 16, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Claire McCaskill is making clear her displeasure over the decision by Southwest Missouri State University of Springfield to make its retiring President, John Keiser, a President Emeritus and to pay him full salary, benefits, and moving expenses. McCaskill says in times of financial constraint, the public should be made aware of how dollars are being spent. McCaskill is asking presidents of the state’s public universities to tell her about money offered for retirement packages and the like. She says it’s inappropriate to be paying people huge sums of money to retire.
