Boeing says it will add 800 jobs in St. Louis, a result of an increase in defense contracts. Boeing officials say the additional workers are needed to build the next generation of anti-submarine aircraft for the Navy and technically advanced combat systems. The hiring will occur over the next 18 months. 250 workers will be added as soon as possible, mostly in technical and engineering fields. Boeing has been leaning on its defense operations to make money. Its commercial airplane business has been soft every since the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001.
