The father of Dominic James, the 2-year-old foster child whose death caused wide-ranging reviews of the state foster care system, has filed a civil lawsuit against a Springfield hospital. Sidney James charges three counts of wrongful death against CoxHealth in Springfield. Dominic was first taken to Cox South hospital August 10th, 2002. He was released several days later and returned to the foster home of John and Jennifer Dilley. Dominic returned to Cox South eight days later, slipped into a coma and died after two days on life support. John Dilley has been convicted in the boy’s death.
