Senate Leader Kinder Promotes Sales Tax Holiday

August 10, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor is calling on all Missourians to help the state’s economy by spending money during this weekend’s sales tax holiday. Senate Leader Peter Kinder of Cape Gerardeau points to research conducted by the St. Louis-based May Company, which indicates sales tax holidays in other states have boosted the economies of those states. Kinder says it’s disappointing that some cities and counties have opted out of the sales tax holiday and will still charge local taxes, but he points out the state sales tax is suspended – this weekend – even in those areas.
