Four errors over the last three innings cost the Royals a win against the Angels on Sunday. Kansas City was able to get away with the first two mistakes, but the final two cost them in a 6-4 loss at Kauffman. With the Royals leading 4-3 in the ninth, Jose Guillen tied the game with a leadoff homer to tie the game at 4-4. Later in the inning, with runners on first and second base, Tim Salmon popped up to right field, but Abraham Nunez dropped and loaded the bases. David Eckstein drove in a run with a sacrifice squeeze and relief pitcher Dennys Reyes fielded the ball and threw it into right field to allow another run. The Royals put a runner on in the bottom of the ninth inning, but couldn’t get a run across. The Royals were swept by the Angels. Nate Field gave up the game-tying homer and was charged with the loss.
