Cards Rally For ML-Best 70th Win

The Cardinals became the first team to reach the 70-win mark in 2004. The Redbirds rallied to beat the Mets 6-4 on Friday. Matt Morris gave up two runs in seven innings, and won his 12th game of the season. The Mets scored two runs in the sixth, but the Cards rallied for two in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the eighth. Albert Pujols led the offensive charge with three hits and two RBI. The Cardinals own a major-league best 70-38 record, and hold a 10.5 game lead over the Cubs in the N.L. Central.
