Brian Anderson hadn’t won a game since April 20th, so when manager Tony Pena tried to take him out of the game, he was none-too-pleased. He said, “You know when he’s coming to get you…he’s not coming down there to say hello. I just looked at him and I said, ‘Absolutely not. I am not coming out of this game.” He just said OK.” Anderson stayed in and finished an 11-0, two-hit, complete game shut out of the White Sox. He was helped by the Royals seven-run first inning. With the win, Anderson improved to 2-9. Catcher John Buck hit a three run homer in the first and led the team with three RBI’s. Ruben Mateo and Abraham Nunez drove in two apiece for Kansas City.
