The University of Missouri-Rolla’s departure from the MIAA Conference after the 2004-2005 school year to the Great Lakes Valley Conference will end over 70 years with the MIAA. The decision also created a dilemma for the conference: Find a tenth school to fill Rolla’s void or go with nine schools for the time being. The MIAA has decided to go with the latter and play a school short. The conference attempted to find a tenth team—reportedly Lincoln University of Jefferson City, Fort Hays State (Kansas) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha—but for various reason no school was added to the MIAA’s roster. The conference will now focus on finding a school, and possibly adding a total of three more, by the 2006-2007 school year… The MIAA announced it’s pre-season football poll yesterday. Here are the results: Pittsburgh St., Central Missouri St., Northwest Missouri St., Emporia St., Missouri Western, Washburn, Southwest Baptist, Truman St., Missouri Southern and Missouri-Rolla.
