Voters go to the polls tomorrow to decide whether they will allow a casino go in to the small southwest Missouri community of Rockaway Beach. Ross Summers is with the Branson Area Chamber of Commerce and a member of the group fighting Amendment 1. He says a casino in that part of the state just does not fit the image they’ve tried to build. Chuck Walters is from Rockaway Beach and the chairman of the town’s committee to bring in a casino. He says it won’t hurt anybody’s image. Walters says his little town desparately needs the jobs a casino would bring, as well as the benefit to the surrounding businesses. Summers says too many jobs in that part of the state would go away because casino owners try to keep you inside their doors to spend every dime. Summers adds if they don’t stop it at the polls, they might pursue legal avenues.
