May Pitches Complete Game, Royals Still Lose

July 22, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

If the Royals can take any positives from Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to the Tigers it’s that they didn’t wear out the bullpen. Darrell May pitched the entire eight innings necessary for a road loss and dropped to 7-10 on the season. Rondell White hit the first of three solo home runs for the Tigers, when he teed off against May in the second inning. Marcus Thames and Ivan Rodriguez also hit home runs in the fourth and fifth. Desi Relaford also hit a one-run homer in the fifth and Ruben Mateo’s RBI single in the sixth accounted for Kansas City’s second and final run. The loss dropped the Royals to 34-58, which is the worst record in the American League.
