BCS Gives Polls More Power

July 16, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The AP Poll, coaches poll and the average ranking of six computer polls now determine who will play in the college football title game. Gone are the quality wins, strength of schedule and loss column. Each of the three determinants will have an equal share in determining which two teams will square off in college football’s final game. In essence the human polls will have more power than the computer, which is the major change under the new system. Under this formula, USC would have played LSU for the national title instead of Oklahoma.
