DNR Monitoring Molasses Dump

July 15, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The Department of Natural Resources says Purina Mills and a septic pumping operator dumped 50,000 gallons of diluted molasses into a sinkhole in Greene County. The molasses later flowed into Clear Creek Spring. DNR has an emergency crew sucking as much molasses out of the sinkhole as it can. The owner of the spring says about 200 fish have been killed so far, and DNR worries that the next rainstorm will flush more of the molasses into the spring later.
