The U.S. Senate has failed in its effort to end a filibuster to allow a vote on a constitutional amendment to recognize marriage as a union of one man and one union. So, the proposal has been shelved. Senator Christopher Bond says that while the idea might be dead for this session of Congress it won’t be gone for long. He says it will return until the issue is resolved. Bond says despite what’s happened on Capitol Hill in Washington, Missouri voters will have the chance to decide, in next month’s election, on the definition of marriage in this state. A proposal to amend the Missouri Constitution is one of the issues on the August 3rd ballot.
