St. Louis Hosts Dedication For Stamp Honoring Inventor Fuller

July 14, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

A stamp honoring inventor and philosopher R. Buckminster Fuller is being dedicated at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. The 37-cent stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of Fuller’s patent on the geodesic dome design. The garden’s Climatron, the first dome structure to be used as a greenhouse, was based on Fuller’s design. Some referred to Fuller as the savior of the Missouri Botantical Garden, because attendance jumped when the Climatron opened in October of 1960.
