Effort Launched To Oppose Rockaway Beach Casino Proposal

July 7, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

An organized effort has been launched by opponents of the proposal to amend the State Constitution to allow a casino to be built in southwest Missouri. Ross Summers, the Executive Vice President of the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, is one of the spokesmen for “Show Me You Care” – an effort to defeat Amendment 1 on the August 3rd ballot. He says a casino is wrong fo the region. Summers rejects the suggestion that a casino in Rockaway Beach will bring additional tourists to the region. He fears it would harm existing restaurants, theaters, and family activities.
