The Royals losing streak is at five games after falling to the Orioles 10-1 in the series opener at Kauffman. Starting pitcher Darrell May, who came into the game with a three-game winning streak, was knocked out of the game in the seventh as the Orioles rallied for four runs and made it 8-0 by the time the Royals changed pitchers and got out of the inning. David Newham, who was playing in just his 68th game since his MLB debut in 1999, went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s, a homer and three runs scored. He’s hitting .485 with three home runs and ten RBI’s since being called up last week. Eric Bedard held the Royals to five hits over 6 1/3 innings—Kansas City had just seven base hits on the night and stranded seven runners…. Third baseman Joe Randa will go on the 15-day disabled list to have arthroscopic surgery on a ligament in his knee.
