The only two runs for Kansas City came on a two-run homer by Mike Sweeney in the eighth. Matt Morris was the winning pitcher. He gave up two runs in eight innings. Rookie Zack Greinke took the loss for the Royals. He allowed four runs in five innings. Since interleague play beagn, the Cardinals lead the all-time series with the Royals 15-13.
