MU Expected To Hire Watkins As Assistant

June 21, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

MU head basketball coach Quin Snyder is expected to announce the hiring of Melvin Watkins as a new assistant basketball coach at Missouri. The school has scheduled a 10:00 news conference for Monday morning to announce the hiring of a new assistant coach. Sources indicate that Watkins has gotten the job. Watkins spent the past six years as the head coach at Texas A&M. The Aggies never posted a winning record during that time. Watkins resigned after the 2003-04 season in which A&M went 0-16 in Big 12 play. There are two spots open on Snyder’s staff. Associate head coach Tony Harvey resigned on Friday. Lane Odom turned in his resignation in May.
