State lawmakers soon will have more concrete information to determine whether state tax credits provide the return they promise. Senator Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood chaired a joint legislative committee that reviewed the state tax credit system. Out of its work came legislation calling for a thorough review and regular auditsof state tax creidts. Gibbons says that has been missing in political debate about tax credits in the past. Gibbons says solid information will give the Legislature the groundwork needed to cut back or get rid of tax credits which don’t provide the state a big enough return.
