Cards Ride Pitching, Hitting Of Marquis To Win

June 17, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Jason Marquis was the star on Wednesday, leading the Cardinals to a 6-2 win over the Oakland A’s. Marquis gave up two runs on five hits in seven innings of work. He improved his record to 6-4 with the win. Marquis was also a star at the plate. His two-run double in the second inning turned out to be the game-winning hit. Jim Edmonds and Reggie Sanders homered for the Cardinals, who have won 15 of their last 20 games, and are 11 games over .500 for the first time this season. The Cardinals remain two games ahead of Chicago and Cincinnati in the N.L. Central.
