Secretary of State Matt Blunt, Missouri’s election authority, is authorizing military personnel serving in certain overseas locations to fax in their ballots for the August 3rd primary. He says changes in the state’s election laws in 2002 allow everyone in the state to fax in a request for an absentee ballot, and gives him the authorization to designate certain areas as eligible for the faxing ballot option. Blunt says there have been worries about absentee ballots getting to and back from military overseas in time after the preparation of the ballots was delayed by the fight over when the same-sex marriage ban would appear on the ballot. He says it looks as though the ballots will be prepared in time.
