The Oakland A’s came into Busch Stadium with an eight-game winning streak. But they ran into another red-hot team. The Cardinals rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh, and beat the A’s 8-4. Pinch-hitter Marlon Anderson sparked the rally with a two-run single that turned out to be the game-winner. Cody McKay, Tony Womack and Edgar Renteria also had RBI singles for the Cardinals in the seventh. Albert Pujols made his return to the field by starting at first base. He was 1-4 with 2 RBI. The Cardinals have now won 14 of their last 19 games, and are 10 games over .500 for the first time this season.
