20-year old pitcher Zach Greinke earned the first win of his young career as the Royals took care of the Expos 4-2 at Kauffman Stadium Tuesday. Greinke allowed no runs, no walks, and three hits and struck out five. Carlos Beltran’s two run homer in the third inning gave the Royals a 3-0 lead and Benito Santiago’s RBI double gave the Royals a 4-0 lead going into the ninth inning. Reliever Jeremy Affeldt almost gave the win away by allowing two runs off two hits and three walks in 1 1/3 innings. He was able to hold on for his seventh save. Greinke is now 1- and has an ERA of 1.73.
