America’s new Ambassador to the United Nations in New York could very well be a former United States Senator from Missouri. President Bush has chosen former Senator John Danforth for the post. If confirmed by the Senate, Danforth would succeed John Negroponte, the President’s choice to become Ambassador to Iraq. Danforth, who served 18 years in the U.S. Senate, has been a special envoy to Sudan since 2001. The licensed Episcopal minister also served a Missouri Attorney General. President Bush made the announcement today druing a visit to Rome.
