Cardinals Sweep Pirates

June 4, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Scott Rolen apparently has no ill effects from getting hit in the head with a pitch on Tuesday night. Rolen was 3-for-4 with two RBI’s as the Cardinals topped the Pirates 4-2. St. Louis took all four games at PNC Park and improved to 19–8 on the road. Woody Williams lasted six innings and held the Pirates scoreless despite six hits and two walks—he’s now 3-5. Jason Isringhausen pitched an inning and a third to earn his 11th save in 14 tries. The Cardinals gained a half-game on the first-place Reds, who were idle on Thursday—St. Louis trails Cincinnati by two games.
