State Supreme Court Rules On Timing Of Same-Sex Marriage Vote

June 3, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The vote to ban same-sex marriage in Missouri will likely appear on the August ballot. The State Supreme Court has issued its ruling in the case over the timing of the vote on the gay marriage ban. It has ruled against Attorney General Jay Nixon in his effort to force Secretary of State Matt Blunt to place the initiative on the August 3rd ballot. However, the ruling also says the Secretary of State has a duty to take all necessary actions to make sure the issue does appear on the August 3rd ballot. The Missourinet is attempting to clarify this with the parties involved.
