The Royals won their second straight and secured a series win against the Tigers with a 7-3 victory at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday. Matt Stairs got the ball rolling for Kansas City with a two-run homer in the first inning. Mike Sweeney also added a two-run blast in the seventh inning to give the Royals a 7-1 lead. Sweeney’s homer was his fourth in eight games and his eighth of the season. Darrell May wasn’t sharp, but he got the win by allowing 10 hits and three runs over 7 2/3 innings. He improved to 2-6.
