Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis have completed a cancer study indicating a patient’s overall health is a critical factor in assessing prognosis … but non-cancer ailments are often overlooked. It seems obvious. People suffering from cancer and other ailments don’t generally recover as well as those who are only suffering from cancer. Doctor Jay Piccirillo headed up the research. He says the findings make sense, but research proving what was thought to be true had not been conducted before. Doctor Piccirillo says the knowledge gained could help physicians better diagnose treatment for patients who are suffering from cancer as well as patients who are suffering from cancer and other maladies.
