The Missouri Tiger softball team lost a heart-breaking 1-0 game to Louisville in their NCAA Regional opener in Los Angeles. Mizzou had a chance to break the game wide open in the eighth inning when they left the bases loaded. In the bottom of the inning, Michelle Vaszuez drove in Shannon Nord with a single to give the Cardinals the win. Tiger pitcher Erin Kalka made history with her 282nd strikeout of the season. Tossing to Louisville’s right fielder Candi Hicks in the bottom of the third inning, Kalka now leads the Missouri season strikeout chart, surpassing 1983 graduate Teresa Wilson’s previous record of 281 (set in 1982). The Tigers take on UCLA today.
