The Royals’ first series sweep of the season will have to wait. After taking the first two games of their set with the Rangers, Kansas City lost 6-3 on Thursday. The Royals drew first blood when Joe Randa was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in Angel Berroa. Benito Santiago gave Kansas City a 2-0 lead with an RBI single to score Juan Gonzalez. Moments later, the wheels fell off for starting pitcher Darrell May, who was charged with the loss. Rangers back up catcher Rod Barajas hit a three-run double off May and Hank Blalock cleared the bases with a two-run home run to make it 5-2. The Rangers made it 6-2 in the third inning with a home run from Kevin Mench. May didn’t make it out of the fifth inning and dropped to 1-6 on the season.
