House Approves Gay Marriage Ban Proposal In Final Hour Of Session

May 14, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

It appeared dead, until the last of the last day of the legislative session. The state Legislature has decided Missourians will decide whether a definition of marriage will be placed in the constitution. House leadership, frustrated that the Senate failed to move on their marriage amendment, picked up a resolution from the Senate that had sat on the calendar for days. Missouri voters – in either August or November – will vote on defining marriage as between one man and one woman in the state constitution. It will be up to Governor Bob Holden when the issue will be on the ballot.
