What Kobe Bryant is doing in the NBA playoffs is nothing short of remarkable. Don’t confuse this with a show of support for the man that at the very lease committed adultery and is charged with felony rape in Colorado. Bryant calls it consensual sex, while his accuser, a 19-year-old woman is charging rape. A jury will decide that issue later this year. But what is remarkable is that Bryant is facing either 4 years to life in prison, or 20 years to life on probation. Yet with the possibility of going away to prison for a long time, Bryant has managed to score 31, 15, 22 and 42 points in the four game series with San Antonio with game five coming up tonight in San Antonio. Four times in the playoffs, Bryant has gone from a Colorado court room during the day, hopped a plain to the game and played well at night, including Tuesday nights 42 point effort. Kobe Bryant wasn’t even in the top four in the NBA’s MVP voting, the likely reason is the rape charge. I have to believe the media didn’t want anything to do with handing Bryant the top player award while facing felony rape charges. But Kobe Bryant has been phenomenal all season, the one consistent piece of the puzzle for the Lakers. Take nothing away from Shaquille O’Neal, but Bryant has been the real superstar, and he’s doing it under some extreme circumstances.
