Matt Morris snapped a personal two-game skid as the Cardinals topped the Braves 5-2 at Busch. Morris went eight innings and gave up two runs, six hits, and a walk and struck out five to get his fourth win of the season. Jason Isringhausen worked around a ninth-inning hit to get his sixth save of the year. Edgar Renteria and Jim Edmonds who drove in two runs apiece helped out Morris. Renteria’s two-out, two-run double in the third broke a scoreless tie. Edmonds drove in a run with a double in the fifth thanks to J.D. Drew, who was making his return to Busch. Drew slipped on the wet grass and misplayed Edmond’s drive. In the eighth, Edmonds hit his eighth homer of the season. Drew went deep in the sixth inning for the Braves’ only runs.
